About the Exams

As of July 5, 2017, NAB has transitioned its examinations to a new module structure. All examinees who have not successfully completed the national NHA or RCAL exam(s) will need to pass a 100- item Core of Knowledge exam and a 50- item line of service exam.  Candidates can apply for examination eligibility through a new application system called Clarus (https://nab.useclarus.com). If you have previously taken an exam through NAB, please use the exam email on file to complete a password reset in Claris. All candidate records from the current application system have been transferred to the new application system.

Prior to applying for any of the exams NAB offers (both state and/or national), please make sure that you have met the requirements of your state licensing board and received their approval to take your exam. To contact your state licensing board, please CLICK HERE.

The revised NAB Exam Candidate Handbook applies to the new exam structure, with information on the core exam and all line of service exams. You are strongly encouraged to read the candidate handbook first for any questions about the application system and the exam structure.
