The NAB Study Guide has a new look and feel! We greatly value input from our community of members. This updated version is in direct response to user feedback and requests.

The study guide was created to help you prepare to pass your Administrator licensing exam(s) and enter the field of health services and supports as an Administrator/Health Services Executive. Simply utilizing this study guide (alone) is NOT enough to prepare you for the exam, because it is NOT a comprehensive body of knowledge. Rather, we intend to provide you with an overview of what you need to know. The NAB Study Guide is intended as a supplemental aide in preparing for the examination.

Sample Study Path

1.) Read the NAB Candidate Handbook.

It is essential to be familiar with the handbook content. There is a comprehensive list of recommended references, as well as NAB examination specifications.

2. Begin the NAB Study Guide and view the introduction.

3. Explore each Domain of Practice and the 74 Principles of Knowledge.

4. Select an area of study and complete the 25 practice questions.

5. Review your results.

6. Follow the Suggestions for Further Study.

7. Visit the RESOURCES tab and conduct research.

The NAB Study Guide is intended as a supplemental aide in preparing for the examination. To be successful, aim to review all the resources and become familiar with the laws, the textbooks and any content provided to prepare for the examination.

8. Complete all activities in Levels 1-4.

9. Retake the practice questions (or explore a new area of study).

10. Consider taking one (or more) of the NAB Practice Exams.

Use the NAB study guide as part of your study process (in conjuction with practice exams). Most test-takers use the practice exams in an iterative process. That means they take more than one, adjust their study based on the results, and continue to test until they feel they are proficient to attempt the real test. These exams provide a micro experience of the actual exam and a reasonable measure of your preparedness.
